This 14th edition of Willard and Spackman’s Occupational Therapy

maintains the rich history of the text as a comprehensive resource

for the profession; however, the vision for this edition is to better

reflect the global and diverse practice of occupational therapy (OT).

Our goal is to help our students focus on the pursuit of fair

treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement for all while

striving to identify and eliminate barriers that prevent full

participation. For example, we want our readers to learn to create

environments in which any individual or group feels welcomed,

respected, and valued enough to participate fully. Where

appropriate, we want to provide students with examples of OT

assessments and interventions that ignite the agency of the people

we serve to fulfill their potential.
